Red Arrows return to the Malta International Airshow

For the 21st edition of the Malta International Airshow, the RAF Red Arrows aerobatics team returned to our island with spectacular displays. On a bright sunny Saturday afternoon, the Red Arrows couldn't have delighted the crowds more with loops, colourful smoke and heart pumping stunts. Here is a slideshow of some of my images.

Trevor Sollars weekly in pix: 25/03/2013 - 31/03/2013

Some great photographic opportunities this week for the press. Starting from the Fifa World Cup qualifier game between Malta and Italy. The game ended 2-0 for Italy, where I had the opportunity to take some really good shots.

The Holy week in Malta is marked with lots of traditions such as the Via Crucis in Valletta, the rushing in of the statue of the risen Christ and the "figolla" or course.

Fifa World Cup qualifier - Malta vs Italy

Today it was a dream came true. I had the opportunity to photograph the Italian squad when they played Malta at the National Stadium in Ta' Qali. This game was a qualifier from group B valid for the 2014 Fifa World Cup. It is not the order of the day for me to photograph football superstars. So I would like to share with you some of my pictures.

I will try to upload the events that I have photographed during the week. Well not all of them, because there are quite a number. But this gives an idea of what I do. Enjoy

Here comes the heavy weight champion

I can't explain how much excited I am right now. I have managed to put my hands on one of the best lenses on the market, the Canon EF 400mm f2.8 L with Image Stabiliser. This is an exceptional lens for sports photography. The optical quality if simply fantastic and the sharpness is impressive.

So why call this post heavy weight champion? Simple, this is the most heavy lens that Canon have ever produced. It is heavier than the 600mm and 800mm lenses. Therefore a good monopod is a must, as one can't hand hold this beast for pro longed shooting.

Here are some pics shot with the 400mm lens taken during a waterpolo game earlier this week between Neptunes Emirates and Sirens Ritter Sport.
